Programs

  • Emergency Food Program: food boxes for families in Oak Run, Round Mountain, Montgomery Creek and Big Bend.
  • Community Food Ordering Cooperative: Acorn is the host site for the Community Food Co-op. Anyone in the area is welcome to join. Every other month individuals place food/supply orders directly with the company called Azure Standard and the order is delivered to the Acorn offices for your pick up. Call or email Staci for more information.
  • KKRN FM 88.5 is a project of Acorn currently in its fundraising stage. It is a new community radio station to serve the areas from Burney to Eastern Redding.
  • Bright Futures programs for children 0-5 and their families in the area from Oak Run to Big Bend.
  • Mountain Community News: Acorn produces this monthly community newsletter.
  • Intermountain Health Equity Education Project: a series of workshops during 2009-2010 on community “health equity” issues.
  • Acorn Teens: we co-sponsor (with Hill Country Clinic) the Youth Advisory Board, and sponsor teen dances, hikes, summer camping trips, other recreation.
  • Summer Youth Activities: various programs offered during the summer, primarily for K-8 youth.
  • Youth Individual Development Accounts (YIDAs): Financial education and savings match program of up to $600
  • Community events like a Christmas Community Potluck and Talent Show, and Community Easter Egg Hunt.
  • Resource and Referral: call us about anything related to our communities. If we don’t know, we know who will.
  • Coordinates with any groups who want to do pro-community activities in our area.
